Auditions for "Seussical"

“Seussical, The Musical” Auditions Age 9 to 18 (just finished senior year of high school)

The Urbana Park District invites young performers to audition for this year’s summer musical, Seussical, on Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18. Auditions are open to anyone age nine to 18. Seussical combines some of Dr. Seuss’ best stories into one great rock musical. We meet Horton the Elephant, Amazing Mazie, The Cat in the Hat and many more. Call 367-1544 to sign up for an audition time. Auditions take place at the Phillips Recreation Center, 505 W. Stoughton, Urbana.

Chorus Auditions
5:45-6:20 p.m. or 6:05-6:40 p.m.
Children will be taught a number from the show and will sing and dance in groups of 10-15.

Solo Auditions
1-6 p.m.
Individuals who are auditioning for named roles should prepare a song that is not from “Seussical” and bring sheet music, if possible. An accompanist will be provided. Call backs will be on May 19 from 6-10 p.m.

Rehearsals
Rehearsals are from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday evenings at the Phillips Recreation Center beginning June 2. Frequency of rehearsals for an individual will depend on how many scenes they are in. Some performers may rehearse up to 15 hours a week.

Performances
7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 23 through Saturday, July 26. Tickets will be $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under.
