Get ready for an epic time at Urbana Park District's FRESH Hangout Zones--exclusively for teens--at Blair Park this summer! Whether you're into gaming, reading, drawing, or just chilling with friends, we've got you covered. Enjoy free Wi-Fi, Nintendo Switch gaming, art supplies, board games, yard games and more. Plus, there are free snacks and refreshments! Don't miss out--call the Phillips Recreation Center at 217-367-1544 for all the deets!

 

FRESH Crew Volunteer Stewardship Workdays - Free!

FRESH Crew is a nature work club for teens, grades 6 to 12. FRESH Crew meets weekly in the summer to remove invasive species, plant native plants, garden in community gardens, or harvest seeds. In addition, we host guest speakers, spend time in Urbana’s natural areas. Participants under 18 must have a signed waiver by a parent or guardian. No prior registration or experience is required!

• June 11: Victory Park Solidarity Gardens
• June 18: Perkins Wet Prairie (meet at Urbana Dog Park)
• June 25: Meadowbrook Park (meet at Race St. parking lot)
• July 2: Perkins Wet Prairie (meet at Urbana Dog Park)
• July 9: Victory Park Solidarity Gardens
• July 16: Perkins Wet Prairie (meet at Urbana Dog Park)
• July 23: Crystal Lake Park (meet at the Lake House)
• July 30: Perkins Wet Prairie (meet at Urbana Dog Park)
• Aug 6: Victory Park Solidarity Gardens

All are welcome! FRESH Crew helps members build connections with nature and their community, make new friends, and learn about the natural world. This program also provides hands-on experience for students interested in working in nature, such as at a National Park, in a research lab, or on a restoration crew.

Plan to bring/wear:

• Completed waiver, signed by your parent/guardian; these waivers are good for up to one year before they need to be renewed!
• Closed-toed shoes
• Long pants & socks recommended for tick protection
• Sun protection such as hat and/or sunglasses
• Refillable water bottle

We will provide:

• Blank waiver forms
• Sunscreen and insect repellent
• Light snacks
• Incentives for volunteers such as free single-day pool passes
